A Typical Hunt Day

7:30 A.M. Coffee is brewing, conversation is starting and the opportunity to watch a magnificent sunrise.

8:00 A.M. A hearty breakfast that you will always remember and you better save room for hot, homemade caramel rolls fresh out of the oven.

9:30 to 11:30 A.M. A safety talk on the handling of firearms and what will be expected of each responsible hunter. Challenging and fun shooting on the thirteen-station NRA sporting clays course with fifty-plus targets follow this. This is not only a good warm-up, but also a great way to make friends and renew old acquaintances. Instructors are available to help you at your request to improve your shooting skills.

11:30 to 12:30 P.M. Back to the lodge where a light lunch of homemade soups and sandwiches prepared on fresh baked bread will be served buffet-style. Top this off with hot, fresh out-of-the-oven chocolate chip cookies and a cup of coffee.

12:30 to 5:30 P.M. Spend the balance of the day chasing the wily ring neck pheasant over thousands of acres of corn fields, milo fields, a varietyof superb wildlife habitat such as tall grasslands, draws, creek bottoms and tree belts. Experienced guides and dog handlers will accompany you. Needless to say, it wouldn’t be a quality hunt without the likes of Rocky, Dyna, Cindy, Jasper, Nails or any one of the other twenty retrievers and pointers from the Circle H Kennels. You can be assured they are always eager to please you, day in and day out.

5:30 to 7:00 P.M. Return to a sparkling clean lodge and guesthouse to shower and change. Relax by the roaring fire with your favorite beverage and watch a magnificent sunset settle over the Dakota prairie.

7:00 P.M. Dinner is served family-style in the main dining room, first class in every way. Here are some of the menu items you might experience. Start off with a couple types of salads, followed by entrees of one of the following: steak; roast beek the old-fashioned way with potatoes and carrots; roast pheasant served with cream sauce; roast turkey with dressing; and occasionally a roasted Canadian goose; always accompanied by homemade mashed potatoes, gravy and home-grown vegetables. While you are enjoying all of this, you will be eyeing the fresh-baked pies cooling on the sideboard.

8:00 P.M. and on Conversation, cards, reading or NFL football.

After 10:00 P.M. It seems to quiet down and you see a lot of yawns… must be the food and fresh air, I reckon.

*This is just the first day, and it even gets better than that! *
